2. Ramblers walk grades are provided as general guidance only as walk gradings can depend on the time of year, weather etc.

(E) Easy – gentle pace and easy terrain with occasional obstruction such as a stile to negotiate

(L) Leisurely – leisurely pace over uneven ground, will usually include some hills and obstructions. For the fitter person with some country walking experience

(M) Moderate – for fairly fit people with country walking experience. Moderate pace; sustained climbs, steep ground and open country likely

(S) Strenuous – For experienced country walkers with above average fitness levels. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the organiser or leader in advance

(T) Technical - walks for experienced and very fit walkers with additional technical skills. May require scrambling and use of ice axes and crampons. You must contact the organiser or leader in advance for further details
